23 Million girls in India drop out of school every year when they get their period.
Ananya was appalled when she learned this. So, she started Project Pragati to try and improve the lifestyles of these girls. Project Pragati is passionate about breaking the chain of illiteracy and poverty by spreading awareness and education about menstruation and providing funding and access to basic menstrual hygiene facilities. Additionally, we also promote and support sustainable menstrual products.
While menstrual educational material is available in English and various such languages, it is not available in Gujarati and other local languages. So, Ananya desinged a curriculum in Gujarati, which she uses to conduct her awareness sessions. The response from these sessions has been overwhelmingly positive, and extremely heartwarming. Project Pragati is supported by the 1M1B Foundation.
